Asheville Lacrosse Club
The Asheville Lacrosse Club was originally started as the Asheville YMCA Lacrosse Club in 1994.
Some of the founding members (Duncan Sharrits, Tom Heck, Mario Moraga, and Richard Sims to name a few) still live in the area and are still active members of the lacrosse community as players, coaches and officials.
Blue Ridge Classic
This YMCA club team became the ALC sometime around 1996, which is also when the club began the Bele Chere Lacrosse Tournament which is now the Blue Ridge Classic.
Asheville Empire
Currently, the youth lacrosse scene in Asheville is thriving!
For both boys and girls, ages 8-18, if you live in the Asheville area and want to play lacrosse, you can.
The Asheville Empire is the youth team that was started as an offshoot of the Asheville High School Club Team. Founders Connor Jardeleza and Avery Gibbs are current and former members of the ALC.
No Signs of Slowing Down
The Empire has begun fielding travel teams for both boys and girls and has played an integral role in getting lacrosse in the local public high schools.
The current head administrator of The Asheville Empire is former ALC president Sean Humphreys.
With no signs of slowing down, Asheville Empire is making a name for itself both in Asheville and all across the Southeast.
